Following site clearance, including an old tennis court and garage, the structure was built using a mixture of masonry to ensure a good thermal store and insulated timber to create a highly efficient envelope. A ground source heat pump was installed, designed specifically for the plot, to cover heating and hot water. During the first twelve months of habitation, the electrical costs, covering all heating, hot water, power and lighting, including ovens was only £1800.
The client approached us following an extensive renovation project for one of his family members.
To build a traditional long term home with minimal maintenance and minimal running costs in the grounds of the existing family property. This project took 44 weeks to complete.
COSTING AND PLANNING
Improvements were made to an existing planning approval to offer more space and light to create an extra bedroom. Bygone windows, aluminium gutter and through colour acrylic render was selected. An energy expert was used to advise us on the performance and efficiency of the building.
