THE
Workshops

Due to its location in an area of outstanding natural beauty, the design needed to be worked within strict guidelines.

Once the main envelope was constructed the internal layout was marked up and final adjustments made in order to optimize space and fulfil the client’s wishes.

An internal wall was removed and a new steel beam put in to create a larger sitting room giving the spacious open plan effect.

The Oak staircase is an integral feature of the property. We worked with the clients on options for the level change in the front hall to enhance this feature.

A great relationship with the neighbor was maintained throughout due to the shared access. Thank you Bob for your generosity.

THE ENQUIRY

This home was constructed for one of the management team of our prime South East timber supplier.

THE BRIEF

To replace an existing workshop site with a low energy, low maintenance, modern timber framed house.

COSTING AND PLANNING

We worked in close partnership with the Structural engineer to maximize cost efficiency and value. The timber frame construction was designed to maximize space.

“We chose Jaques to build our new timber frame home on green belt land, and in an area designated to be of outstanding natural beauty, so potentially a tricky job. The Jaques team were extremely professional and knowledgeable with a nothing too much trouble/ can do attitude. I work in the merchant sector so have a very good knowledge on the quality of materials that builders use. Jaques always took the quality option. Our home was built on time and under budget and looks absolutely stunning.

The site team took great pride in building a home rather than a house and often went the extra mile to make sure things were perfect. Put it this way If we had the chance to do it again my wife would only use Jaques Construction.”
